    With this comprehensive 6-month part-time course, students will learn the fundamentals of a child’s psychological development. In addition, relevant counselling skills and theories, as well as various intervention strategies will be communicated to students by practitioners.

    PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

    Students will first be introduced the theories and stages of developmental psychology, and followed similarly in the study of counselling. Theories of child psychology, such as Freud, Erikson and Piaget will be taught while the various developmental milestones, such as cognitive, language, social and physical will be presented to students as well. The students go on to acquire the critical foundational skills of counselling essential to work with children and the parents of children with special needs.

    Candidates should havecompleted Secondary School Education including a pass in English obtained at the GCE 'O' Level (English) Singapore-Cambridge Examination.
